Crystal Leung
Medical Director
Dr. Crystal Leung grew up in Hong Kong. As a teenager, she found her calling while volunteering at the local SPCA. As there was no veterinary school in her hometown, she traveled to Australia to attend the University of Melbourne. Upon graduation, Dr. Leung packed her bags again and moved to the United States. She completed a one-year rotating internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at a specialty hospital in Washington D.C. before moving to New York City to practice. Prior to joining Bond Vet, Dr. Leung had practiced at a busy general and urgent care practice in the Upper East Side for several years. Her professional interests include dermatology, internal medicine, and emergency medicine. Dr. Leung lives with her fiancé and their two rescue cats, Sesame and Taro, in Long Island. During her free time, she enjoys cooking, swimming, practicing yoga, music, watching movies, building Legos, and exploring the food scene in her neighborhood.
Erin Mackey
Medical Director
Before going to veterinary school, Dr. Mackey worked as a veterinary assistant in the Rehabilitation and Integrative Medicine Department at the Animal Medical Center. Outside working with pets, she loves going out to new restaurants and bars in Brooklyn, especially if there is a pool table or pinball! Dr. Mackey also has an adventurous side, and loves hiking and Geocaching. She enjoys helping pet parents keep their furbabies happy and healthy, and she hopes to help build on the new graduate program for veterinarians at Bond Vet.
Erin Bortz
Veterinarian
Dr. Bortz graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2009. After graduation, she worked in private practice for 13 years, and joined Bond Vet at the beginning of 2023, hoping to provide excellent medicine and surgery to all her patients. She has an interest in dermatology, as well as internal medicine. She finds building long lasting doctor-client bonds is extremely important, as she feels trust between the doctor and owner allows to provide the best medicine possible. When she's not working in clinic, she enjoys spending time with her daughter, running trails, or doing something Disney related.
Jesse Tong
Veterinarian
I originally grew up in Canada and Hong Kong before making the move to NYC! Completed an internship at BluePearl and stayed on as an Emergency doctor for ~1.5 years afterwards before making the switch to Bond, excited to offer primary and urgent care to our clients and also learn surgeries, dentals, etc. Particular medical interests include ER, imaging such as radiology and ultrasonography, and leadership/mentorship roles. Outside of work I love running, skiing, scuba diving, soccer, Formula 1, checking out restaurants, and traveling whenever I can!
